Attractions

The main attraction in the Sognefjord area is the nature, along with all that accompanies it. This majestic landscape of the innermost areas of the Sognefjord has attracted tourists, explorers, mountaineers and artists for over a century and a half.

The area offers a variety of terrain: an open fjord-landscape, fertile valleys, narrow fjords, massive mountain ranges and blue glaciers. Here you will find snall, idyllic fruit-farming villages, modern societies and solitary mountain farms.

The area also encompasses exciting cultural and national treasures. Five of the oldest Stave-Chuches in Norway are situated here and the oldest of them all, Urnes, -is on the UNESCO list of world heritage sites.
